FINANCIAL SECRETARY'S REPORT B. SENIOR STEWARD'S REPORT C. STEWARDS' REPORTS D. SAFETY STEWARD'S REPORT E. VICE-PRESIDENT'S REPORT (with report of grievances) F. EDITOR'S REPORT G. CLERK CRAFT COORDINATOR'S REPORT H. PRESIDENT'S REPORT 1. OFFICE REPORT. Ordered $295 books since January. Appointed Fred Cusanelli as Office Coordinator to assist me; setting up systems, phones, etc. 2. CLERK CRAFT COORDINATOR. Appointed Jeanine Haught as Clerk Craft Coordinator. Jeanine will keep us updated as to where jobs are; where grievances need to be filed, etc., in regards to job postings, bid awards, etc. 3. Labor-Management Meeting. Friday, April 28th (I believe at 3:30) at the plant. For management will be Lee Thompson, Linda Patrick and Rick McComber. For union, I am asking Jake and Vickie to be on our side. They did not present agenda, but we presented (1) RI-399; (2) supplying requested information and disciplinary actions to union; (3) staffing package for Joyce Street; (4) signal light on Morningside & 15th. 4. DIRECTIONS / GOALS. To increase participation by including more in union work & activities. 5. EMERGENCY MEETING OF LOCAL PRESIDENTS, SW Area. Terry Stapleton called for special meeting of union presidents on afternoon of Monday, March 27th, at Dallas-Ft. Worth Airport, Grand Sheraton. I attended. Jim McCarthy (originally from Boston) was main speaker; Bobby Donelson closed it out. Read report. 6. STATE CONVENTION, June 1-3, 2000. Nolan Richardson let me know Friday he can't make it. Will attempt to get other noted leader to welcome delegates. Need work on welcome packets; need COPA gift firmed up; National leaders coming: Jim McCarthy, Tommy Thompson, Bobby Donelson, Terry Stapleton, Bob Kessler, Carl Casillas and Debra Stewart (Dist 5 Coordinator, Auxiliary). No, local president doesn't select who comes to state conventions. Program or schedule is provided by state president; I just write it up. We are in charge of welcome speaker, hospitality, banquet, and making accommodations with hotel. Mailed out convention information to all stewards in Arkansas w/ hotel and town information enclosed. Dennis sent mailing labels. Gini sending registration receipts with hotel brochures & programs. Dennis just sent word that Federal Credit Union will have boothe set up next to registration and want 5 minutes of program. Banners made; name badges designed 2 ways; programs ready except details about Jim McCarthy (to be sent right away). 7. Thumper Job reverted. Sherry Smith's job has been reverted without approval or disapproval from union. Management more or less is just "NOTIFIED" us of what they're up to, period. Lee wrote and sent certified letter stating that the reverted job would be re-posted as a relief job to the thumper / states racks job. I realize some are upset about this show of semantics on the part of management; they want union to show more aggressive attitude toward management. 8. Carolyn Kent resigned as OWCP Rep. Read letter. 9. Injury Comp Specialist Training. Show print-out. Read letter from NJ. Entertain motion to send Jeanine Haught; paying for airline ticket, shuttle, meals, and registration only; to stay with Texas OWCP Representative, Reneé Bartlett (saving $461); Jeanine would cover her own annual. Benefit to local would far outweight cost. She would be on a par with USPS Labor Specialists in LR; hold certificate from Department of Labor. Total cost for everything $618. Must have registration in by May 21st. 10. No respect from management. They are refusing us union time, requests for info, disciplinary action sheets, etc. Stapleton has threatened action when they arrive for convention. Possible picket. 11.
