Grapevine 11Feb2000 Steve Birch has quit the post office. Details are at the NewsBulletin. Bill Cassidy's mother passed away. Our condolences to the family. Steward training is scheduled tomorrow at noon - Clarion Inn. If you're interested in becoming more involved, come on out. If you're already a steward or officer, the training will be invaluable. State President Dennis Taff will be conducting it. Lunch will also be served. Our monthly union meeting is Sunday at 1PM. Try to be there - you might win the $50 door prize. You definitely will find out what's going on in our union. Why rely on second hand information. Hope to see you there. Gini Hickman has found a source for the latest edition of the ELM (Employee & Labor Relations Manual) at a good price. We have already gotten 2 for the office but several folks have indicated an interest in having a personal copy. We'll make up a list at the union meeting & order some personal copies. It should come to $4-$5 each depending on how many order. The ELM has info on leaves, retirement, and loads of other stuff that affects every part of your postal employment. If you want a backup internet service provider or just want to quit paying for access, go to http://www.Freei.net and either download their program or order the free CD to get set up. The banner that pays for the service can be moved to the upper right corner of your screen where it's hardly noticeable. The service has been good the two weeks I've been using it. They have a Fayetteville phone number for this area so if you're outside the local call zone for Fayetteville it wouldn't be a free deal. Hope to see you at the union meeting Sunday.
