The new post office on Joyce Street opened as scheduled on Monday, August 21st. There was a scramble by the public to get one of the 1902 mailboxes. It is the 25th postal "store" in the country. Rogers has the first one in the state. A grand opening will be held at a later date. Now Fayetteville has a second retail outlet facility; something that Springdale and Bentonville have had for several years. Fayetteville last had a second postal facility for the public in 1951 when the Vale post office closed. The Vale facility had existed for 50 years and its last location was in the area on 15th Street across from the Campbell Soup factory.
