National APWU Representative at-Large for the Maintenance Division, Bobby Donelson, will be making a special appearance at the Arkansas Postal Workers Convention, June 1-3, in Fayetteville. Tentative plans are underway to set aside time for Bobby to meet with maintenance craft workers during the convention at the Hilton Hotel. Bobby has been a union leader since the early 1970s. He began his postal career as a manual distribution clerk in Santa Ana, California, then an MPE Mechanic - Level 6; next Electronic Technician Level 8 and 9. In his home state of California, he was Maintenance Director, full-time Vice-President and President of the Soutwest Coastal Area APWU Local (Anaheim). Currently Bobby Donelson serves as Coordinator for the 21 BMCs representing Maintenance members at the national level. In addition, he has been assigned Articles 8, 10, 36 and 38. He is also involved with the REC sites as it applies to the Maintenance Craft. Bobby has created one of the largest union webring systems in the country and is a promoter of internet use for better communications and transfer of information between members. Bobby is a U.S. Navy veteran (1965-70). He has been married to his wife, Pam, for 33 years, and fathered two children, Brett (age 31), now a letter carrier in Garden Grove, California; and Brandy (age 26), a teacher in Anaheim, California. Bobby is 51; his father was retired from the Navy and his mother is retired from the Post Office. Other national officers will be featured via e-mail, newsletters, and convention program as material is received. At the Friday Night Banquet, national officers will be seated one to a table so that local, state and regional members may have opportunity to field questions. There are major changes ahead for the Postal Service, and we want to be on top of situations. We look forward to meeting the national leaders.
