PRESIDENTS REPORT 6/16/99 Folks, I goofed on scheduling Local's meeting on Father's Day. Thought Dad's Day was on the 13th..... We thought about moving meeting to another week but Constitution doesn't allow it if we are to vote on anything of importance. So...... It may be slim pickings Sunday. But I promise to cut it short. Will have agenda written out so we can go through each issue quickly step by step. Plan on meeting complete by 2:00 pm. (agenda is light). Stewards, if you can't make it, please send me hardcopy, email, or fax of your monthly reports. Please don't leave us empty handed again. Fred finished newsletter. Will be mailed today or tomorrow, depending on when copy place gets through. The cartoons in this issue are classics! Appreciate Jake's letter, letter from Lisa Wertz, and input from several sources. Would appreciate if more of y'all wrote....the more the merrier. Have plans on horizon for LABOR LAW SYMPOSIUM sponsored by UALR Law School. Law professors will be conducting our training. Tentative date now set for Saturday, September 11th -- 9 am to 4:30 pm with delicious buffet lunch in between. I want this to be the best possible; want accommodations to be outstanding so we can "drink" in information that will help us in the future. Springfield MO, OKC, Fort Smith, and Tulsa will join us. Hope to have Harrison, Rogers, Springdale and Bentonville too. Also the MOE BILLER BANQUET is tentatively set for Saturday night, October 23rd. But haven't poured arrangements in concrete yet. Both of these events are still in planning stage. Getting bids from Clarion Inn and Hilton Hotel. If we go to Hilton, class session will probably be held at Continuing Education Center (Univ. of Ark.) which is attached directly to the Hilton. I am specifying to both bidders (Clarion & Hilton) that they provide buffet with 2 entrees. Class conference room will be separate from buffet room so we won't be disturbed by hotel service setting up for meal. Please encourage as many as can to stop by Sunday at 1:00 pm. Don't let me down.
